About our cause
Paddock Wood Community Advice Centre provides a free, confidential, and impartial advice service for the residents of Paddock Wood and throughout Tunbridge Wells Borough. We are open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 1:30pm and offer face-to-face appointments as well as a drop-in service from our purpose-built offices on Commercial Road in Paddock Wood. We also offer appointments by telephone or video call, email advice, outreach appointments or home visits in some limited circumstances. All of our advisers are DBS-checked and fully supervised.
We provide advice and information about a wide range of matters, including consumer issues, debt and money, employment, family matters (children or relationship breakdown including domestic abuse), housing and homelessness, mental health support and welfare benefits (including representation at tribunals). We work with partnership agencies such as Brains Matter, Compaid, DAVSS, Family Law Café, Hospice in the Weald, the Paddock Wood Community Storehouse (Food Bank), Parkinson’s UK and many more to ensure that our clients receive the best possible advice and support.
We are a member of Advice UK, the UK’s largest support network for free, independent advice centres. We are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and subscribe to Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG), the Institute of Money Advisers (IMA), the National Homelessness Advice Service (NHAS), Shelter and Rightsnet for resources and further support.
We have held the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) since 2014. The AQS is a nationally recognised quality mark for organisations providing free, independent advice to members of the public, and is awarded by the Advice Services Alliance. Organisations holding the AQS are required to undergo a monitoring audit every two years to demonstrate that they continue to meet the required standard. PWCAC was last audited in October 2020.
